Welcome Ersti!

A warm welcome to the Mach&Co. Student Group’s digital O-Guide.
With this O-Guide, we'’'d like to provide you with some important information about your degree programme and help make your start at university a little easier.

Who are we, anyway?

We are the Mechanical Engineering & Co. Student Group, a hard-working bunch of students who volunteer to support fellow students. You’ll find out how this works as you browse through this guide. But let’s start slowly for now. We hope you gain lots of interesting insights, that any questions you have will be answered as you read this guide, and, of course, that you enjoy plenty of success, joy and new experiences in this new chapter of your life.

Why do we call you Ersti?

You’re a first-semester student now, which is "Erstsemester" or short "Ersti" in german. In general you stand out. You wander around the campus with your fellow students, trying to find the right lecture room. You queue at the canteen during peak times and spend your time in the library right from day one. You still need help sorting out your timetable and arrive at uni as early as 7.30 am. You’re motivated and full of ambition! Ready to discover and experience something new. These are all examples of how your emotional world is set to be turned upside down over the coming weeks.

To make things easier for you and give you a little insight into your studies right from the start, we’ve put this website together for you. We call it the O-Guide. The ‘O’ stands for ‘orientation’, and that’s exactly what we want to provide you with. The following pages contain everything you need to know for the coming months. Whether you’ve only just moved to Stuttgart or are a true ‘Kesselkind’, in this guide you’ll find the most important information about the university, your degree programme and student life.

We wish you a pleasant start to your studies and hope you enjoy our O-Guide, your Mach&Co. student group
