The study group Mach&Co.
The Mach&Co. Student Group is the student group for the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Chemical and Bioengineering, Renewable Energies, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Technical Cybernetics, Medical Technology, Technology Management and the corresponding Master’s degree programmes. We are neither elected nor appointed students, but simply dropped by the student group to get involved.
The Orientation Phase
But let’s start at the beginning. We’ve put this guide together for you to help you get off to a good start with your studies. This website is just a small part of the bigger picture. The orientation phase helps you find your feet here at university.
On this page – the O-Guide – you’ll find all the information that isn’t covered during the induction week itself.
In our calendar you’ll find all the events taking place during the induction week, and you can register for them there too.
Currently the page is only available in German as it is maintained by our volonteers and they couldn't find sufficient time to change the webpage setup, but auto translation extensions for your browser should suffice. The events are obviously targeted for both german and english speakers .
On this page – the O-Guide – you’ll find all the information that doesn’t relate to the induction week itself.
What else do we do?
The tasks we undertake as a subject group include:
• We support you in your day-to-day university life. For example, we lend out calculators, compasses and drawing boards.
• We provide you with materials for many lectures, such as past exam papers.
• We organise numerous events for students: freshers’ weekends, barbecues, games evenings and many other activities where you can get to know other students.
• We organise the biggest (and best) party of the year: The Mechanical Engineering Festival takes place every November right on the Vaihingen campus.
• We represent students from 26 degree programmes on a wide variety of committees, such as the Student Parliament, the Faculty Council and the Programme Committees. Our involvement in these bodies is vital for representing students’ interests in teaching and helping to shape our everyday university life.
Fancy getting to know us?
Do you have a free period and fancy doing something other than sitting in the cafeteria with a coffee, tea or Spezi? Come and join us for a glimpse behind the scenes at the university and a chance to chat with older students. Feel free to pop in and make yourself comfortable on our sofa. You’ll find us in the foyer of Building 9, behind the red door.
We look forward to seeing you!
