StudiTicket(EN)

If you haven’t been able to find accommodation near the university and you can’t bring yourself to pitch your tent on the Red Square, you’ll probably have to find a way to get to university. When it comes to local public transport, there are two key terms you need to know:

Semester ticket – JugendTicketBW – Deutschlandticket

As long as you’re under 27, the so-called JugendTicketBW is a good choice of ticket in Baden-Württemberg. For 30.42 euros a month, it allows you to use local transport throughout the whole state. If you travel a lot, the Deutschland-Ticket is also an option. You’ve probably heard of it.

You can find a comparison of the different tickets here.

The SSB Ticket Assistant is also highly recommended. The Ticket Assistant should always suggest the cheapest ticket for you. Simply select “No, I do not pay a solidarity contribution” when asked, and select all other options according to your circumstances.

Why not download the app!

The VVS app not only lets you find the quickest route from your home to uni, but you can also buy single tickets here if you don’t have a term ticket. It’s a good idea to add your term ticket to the app, as you’re more likely to forget your wallet than your mobile, and it’s quicker to open the app than to fumble around for your ticket.

Our S-Bahn station is impossible to miss once you’ve spotted it. In the background, you can see the ‘Audimax’ lecture theatre. Thanks to FG Info for the photo.
