Meet your lecturers

On this page, we’ve compiled the interviews we conducted with the lecturers from the first semester. If you’d like to get to know your lecturers up close, rather than from half a lecture theatre’s length away, we hope these videos will be of help. Enjoy watching!

Professor Stroppel CBIW+EE+FT+MACH+MEDTECH+TEMA
lays the foundations for many subsequent lectures with his maths course. Even though his lecture is feared by some, he emphasises that he does not want to fail anyone and does his best to make mathematics more accessible to students. Like many other lecturers, he advises us to attend lectures with enthusiasm and to hit the ground running with our studies.
Professor Leine CBIW+FT+MACH+MECHA+KYB+TEMA
is a professor of engineering mechanics. In his lecture, he demonstrates that topics in mechanics can be a matter of life and death. However, he also addresses less deadly yet nonetheless significant questions about life: from a mechanical point of view, how should a roll of toilet paper be hung?
Professor Hanss CBIW+FT+MACH+MECHA+KYB+TEMA
– known to many as Micha – loves Stuttgart, his university, university life and (we’ll just put this in his mouth) our department. As he gets to know us students as early as our first semester, the professor with staff number 1 accompanies many of us throughout our entire degree, not only in the Technical Mechanics lecture, but also at parties or on Campus Beach.
Professor Bauernhansl FT+MACH+MECHA+TEMA
is the Professor of Manufacturing Engineering and Factory Organisation. Although he did not study in Stuttgart himself, he explains to us why the University of Stuttgart is the right university and the right city in which to study mechanical engineering and similar degree programmes. He also gives a preview of his lecture and encourages students to make the most of university life, including all its social aspects.
Linda Ebert CBIW+EE+FT+MACH+TEMA
As a lecturer, she is responsible for materials science, a subject she has been passionate about ever since her own student days. She likes to bring real-life examples of damage into her lectures, such as a garlic press that gave up the ghost during a family barbecue. Sometimes, even broken items brought in by students are examined. She also explains why spending time abroad whilst studying is worthwhile and what small talk has to do with lab work in Canada.
Professor Kreimeyer FT+MACH
has been at the University of Stuttgart since 2021 and is responsible for the subject of design engineering. After 12 years in industry, he wants to pass on his experience to students through high-quality teaching. His tip for university life is to work together with others, as this makes studying more enjoyable and leads to better results – both at university and in your career.
Professor Nicola FT+MACH
is one of our professors of design engineering. He believes there’s no need to be afraid of his subject, as long as you’re interested in technology (and have a good grasp of the rule of three). He talks about his study visit to Indonesia and recommends that we all make the most of our time at university to undertake a similar trip – preferably to somewhere as exotic as possible.
Professor Remy EE
studied Technical Cybernetics in Stuttgart, then travelled the world on academic assignments, and has now returned to the University of Stuttgart. Here, he values interdisciplinary research at the interfaces between traditional fields of study, such as mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. He therefore encourages us to explore different areas and not just keep delving deeper in the same direction.
