Creating your timetable = Registering for lectures
Using the instructions on this page, you can create your own personalised timetable for the first semester. You’ll need to do this once every semester, but by the second time you’ll be able to manage it without the instructions. You create your timetable by registering for the individual modules, as these are then added to your personal calendar. By registering for a lecture on c@mpus, you’ll also be added to the lecture mailing list and join the ilias course, which is important for lecture organisation, recordings and materials. This means that whilst registration is strongly recommended, you have until just before the start of the lecture period to do so.
What is the term schedule?
c@mpus also offers the option to view all the dates for all courses in a given semester. You can find this timetable by clicking on the small calendar icon next to ‘1st semester’. However, this timetable is very confusing! There are two reasons for this:
- This timetable lists all the tutorials on offer, not just the ones you have registered for.
- Depending on your degree programme, different lecture dates may be offered. The overview schedule displays courses from all degree programmes, which can be very confusing and difficult to make sense of.
You should therefore treat this schedule with caution, although it can be useful if registration has not yet opened.

Which courses do I need to register for?
Before the start of the lecture term, it is particularly important to register for the lecture itself, rather than for group exercises, seminar sessions or tutorials… The registration process varies from one lecture to another; you will be told how this works during the first week of lectures. Generally speaking, a module is structured as follows:
- Lecture: 1–2 sessions per week in which the lecturer presents new material
- Group exercise*: one session per week. Here, students usually work in small groups to present their solutions to the weekly exercise sheet
- Lecture exercise*: one session per week in which the teaching assistant works through sample problems
- Seminar-style exercise*: here, students can work through problems ‘live’ and seek help from student tutors if they encounter difficulties.
To be admitted to the ilias course, you only need to register for the lecture. This should be done before the start of the lecture term.
* Not every module includes all the types of exercises and tutorials listed here. Of course, there are plenty of other types of sessions as well.
