There are lots of different places to discover in Stuttgart.

The Birkenkopf, the Killesberg and Eugensplatz – including the ice-cream parlour – are particularly lovely. The vineyards and the Karlshöhe are also great for walks and picnics. Not far from the university lies Solitude Palace. Here you’ll find a beautiful palace park with fantastic views and a barbecue area.

CampusBeach

CampusBeach is a unique project run by the University of Stuttgart’s student union, aimed at bringing more of a beach atmosphere to the region. The beach bar is set up during the summer months in the heart of the Vaihingen campus, between the Computer Science Building and Building 7, and is open Monday to Saturday. It offers non-alcoholic soft drinks, seasonal beer, cocktails and ice cream at student-friendly prices. At CampusBeach, you can enjoy yourself amidst palm trees and sand, special events and parties, or drinks and barbecue special offers. All this is made possible by stuvus, your student union, and lots of volunteers. So do pop by!

City centre

There’s plenty to do in the city centre too. The best-known spots are, of course, Königsstraße and Schlossplatz. You can enjoy a great view of the city centre from the roof of the city library, for example.

By the water

If you enjoy being by the water, one option is Eckensee, situated in front of the Theaterhaus in the upper Schlossgarten. For a more idyllic setting, you can dip your feet in the water at Max-Eyth-See or the Bärenseen. Alternatively, you could cycle along the banks of the Neckar to Ludwigsburg and then take the S-Bahn back.
