What’s on offer at university
Working Groups
There are many working groups at the university, all of which are always keen to welcome new members.
Campus Bees Working Group – Beekeeping on Campus
Since 2016, students at the University of Stuttgart have been looking after the apiary on the Vaihingen campus. The Campus Bees Working Group looks after the bees and the honey harvest, and is always keen to welcome new members. Further information on the Campus Bees can be found on the website.
AK Cräsch – Sound systems for student parties
AK Cräsch is the first point of contact whenever sound and lighting equipment is needed for events. It makes no difference whether it’s a small flat-share party or a large celebration with over a thousand people; AK Cräsch is also well-equipped for open-air concerts and large student parties. AK Cräsch is not a commercial hire company, but a group of students from the University of Stuttgart who spend their free time working on event technology. If you’re interested in hiring something for your next party or are interested in event technology yourself, why not take a look at the website?
Bicycle Workshop Working Group
Since the 2018 summer term, the university has had a bicycle workshop, which is run by the Bicycle Workshop Working Group. If you ever have a problem with your bike, you can simply pop in – there are plenty of spare parts in stock and there’s always someone there to help you if you’re stuck. You can find the opening hours and further information about the bike workshop and the working group on the website.
Community Garden Working Group
A community garden on the Vaihingen campus for students, university staff and local residents. In the middle of this concrete jungle, strawberries and lettuces grow in raised beds, tomatoes under polytunnels and potatoes in rice sacks. The garden is open to everyone, creating a space for sustainability, creativity and alternative ideas amidst the grey daily routine of studying. The garden is also used for small, cosy get-togethers. For example, the garden hosts an annual summer party. Further information is available on the website.

University clubs
As well as study groups, there are also many university clubs at the University of Stuttgart, the majority of which are made up of students from the University of Stuttgart.
Stuttgart Academic Flying Club
True to its motto ‘Research – Build – Fly’, the Stuttgart Academic Flying Club offers students the opportunity to help design and build gliders and powered aircraft, from the initial design right through to flight testing. As well as working in the workshop and design office, students can also learn to fly gliders and powered aircraft. Further information on the Academic Flying Club and its current aircraft and projects can be found on the website.
Allmand Chaoten Orchester
The Allmand Chaoten Orchester (ACO) is the University of Stuttgart’s student show big band. The ACO was founded over 40 years ago in the ‘Allmannring’ student hall of residence, from which its name is derived. The ACO rehearses every week on campus – why not pop in and have a look? Further information is available on the website of the Allmand Chaoten Orchestra.
University of Stuttgart Racing Team
Every year, students from a wide range of disciplines design, build and test a new racing car powered by an internal combustion engine. From September onwards, around 30 students work towards their dream of building their own racing car, leading up to the Formula Student competitions held on racetracks across Europe in July/August. If you’ve always been fascinated by motor racing, why not pop along to Racing Team?
Ksat Student Small Satellite Group
Ksat enables you to reach for the stars and work on space projects whilst you’re still studying. Further information about the university group and its projects can be found on the website.

As a subject group, we’re always open to enthusiastic students for whom university life isn’t just about studying, but above all about being part of a community.
